i thought i was signing up for a pottery class. i didn’t know God was about to teach me something about Himself.
treasure(d) was initially inspired by my name, Treasure, but over time it came to mean something deeper. i’ve always loved making and doing things with my hands. i find joy in the little details that make a thing a thing, a person a person, and a story a story. i signed up for my first pottery class because i’d wanted to try it for a couple of years.
as the instructor explained centering the clay, applying pressure, and how every movement has a purpose, the Lord began revealing His character to me through every step. i learned that before clay can be shaped well on the wheel, it first has to be centered. when it’s off center, it wobbles and becomes harder to form. but when it’s centered, it becomes steady in the potter’s hands.
i began to see the same truth in my relationship with Christ. when He is my center, i have something steady to remain anchored to, even when life applies pressure. i began to understand that pressure, patience, and intentionality all have a purpose in the hands of the potter. every movement the potter makes is intentional, and it reminded me that God is just as intentional with us because we are deeply loved.
isaiah 64:8 became the foundation of treasure(d).“yet You, Lord, are our Father. we are the clay, You are our potter; we are all the work of Your hand.”
as i’ve spent time with God and come to know Him more as Father, He’s been changing the way i see myself. He’s reminded me that my worth isn’t something i earn. it’s something i’ve always had because He calls me His.
that’s where treasure(d) comes from. it’s more than a play on my name. it’s a reminder that every person is treasured by God.
what we bring into our homes should feel meaningful, something we connect with. my hope is to create pieces that become part of the everyday moments that make a house feel like home. and when you turn a piece over and see treasure(d) stamped on the bottom, i hope it reminds you of whose you are.
